Rules

In order to enjoy the puzzlehunt Mystery of the Old Town Hall, we recommend you to read the following rules carefully. There aren’t many, but reading them will help you have a better gaming experience.

Important Information

  1. The game is managed using the online game system on this website.
  2. To log into the game system, you first need to register your team. All we need is an email address (where your login details will be sent) and a catchy name for your team.
  3. In this game system you will find all the important instructions, and can enter all the passwords you get during the game.
  4. In addition to the game system, you will also need a puzzlehunt guide (see the box below for how to get it), a charged smartphone with internet access, and writing supplies.
  5. The puzzlehunt starts at the Old Town Hall on Radnická 8. The game begins by entering the access code from the puzzlehunt into the first checkpoint.

Game Schema

  • The Mystery of the Old Town Hall puzzlehunt consists of 7 locations.
  • There is exactly one task at each location.
  • The locations are numbered from 1, and you must do them in order.

Where you get the game materials

  • At Tourist Information – Radnická Street,
    (Radnická 8, Brno – maps)

Tasks

  • You will score points for solving tasks.
  • Thenumber of points you score varies depending on whether you solved the task without help, used a hint, or viewed the solution on the game system.
    • Correct solution: 10 points;
    • Move hint: -2 points out of 10 possible;
    • Task hint: -5 points out of 10 possible;
    • Skipping the task by viewing the solution: 0 points.
  • The solution of each task is almost always a meaningful one-word password. You will be informed in other cases. However, you might get a solution like “code is barking animal” or “password is dog”. In that case, use only the word “dog” as the password.
  • The game system ignores the case of letters in passwords.
  • If you enter two incorrect passwords in a row, you will have to wait 2 minutes before entering another, but there is no point deduction for incorrect passwords.
  • The tasks are not related to each other. You need to solve each one separately and individually.

Typically, you can see the task assignments in the game system. Sometimes, you need to use the game materials. You will be notified when that is the case. Everything else you need to solve the task can be found nearby.

Story

As you progress through the game, the story will be revealed to you step by step. The text of the story does not contain any puzzles, but reading it carefully can help you solve the tasks.

Fair play

Please do not reveal or share online the solutions to anyone. It is hard to enjoy the game if you know the solutions in advance. We would like to also ask you to be gentle with all game elements.
